The fifth event was held within the framework of the project “Promoting Successful Practices Against Domestic Violence.”

On August 12, 2025, with the financial support of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the next — fifth — event of the grant project “Promoting Successful Practices Against Domestic Violence,” implemented by the Public Union for Support of Socio-Economic Development “Innovative Progress and Ecology,” was held at the “Youth House” in the city of Khirdalan.

Within the framework of the project, events have been held in Yasamal, Garadagh, and Khazar districts of Baku, as well as in the cities of Sumgayit and Khirdalan.

The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, followed by the performance of the State Anthem.

Opening the event with a welcome speech, the Chairperson of the Public Union for Support of Socio-Economic Development “Innovative Progress and Ecology” and project leader, Saida Musayeva, spoke about the negative consequences of domestic violence in society, especially against women and children, emphasizing that this problem poses a serious threat to social security and healthy development. She noted that a total of five events were planned within the framework of the project, and the next one is scheduled to take place in Khirdalan.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Union and host of the event, Jamala Nakhchivani, stressed in her speech that this issue is consistently kept in the spotlight at the state level in our country, and that the state’s humanistic policy is also reflected in the activities of civil society. She presented participants with a presentation prepared as part of the project.

At the event, the project’s expert, lawyer-psychologist Natig Babayev, provided detailed information about legal mechanisms for combating domestic violence, psychological support services, and both local and international successful practices in this field. The expert touched upon the active participation of women in public life, as well as their economic and social empowerment, and answered numerous questions from the participants.
Throughout the event, participants actively engaged in discussions, sharing their thoughts and experiences on the topic. Q&A sessions and debates created an environment for more productive and dynamic interaction. This approach allowed for a deeper exploration of not only the theoretical but also the practical aspects of the issue, and strengthened the atmosphere of mutual understanding and solidarity among the participants.

In her concluding speech, project leader Saida Musayeva once again stressed that domestic violence is a relevant and serious problem not only for Azerbaijan but for all countries of the world. She emphasized that keeping this issue constantly on the public agenda, raising awareness among the general public, and introducing successful models aimed at preventing violence are the main goals of the project. She noted that one of the primary objectives of the Union in implementing this project is the protection and development of women and children, as well as the promotion of innovative approaches.

Saida Musayeva also underlined the importance they attach to the grant competition announced by the Agency in this field, and expressed gratitude to the members of the Supervisory Board of the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Executive Director Aygun Aliyeva, and the staff of the Secretariat for supporting the initiative of the Public Union “Innovative Progress and Ecology” and including the project among the winners.
