On August 6, 2025, the third awareness-raising event was held within the framework of the project “Promoting Successful Practices Against Domestic Violence” at the “Deniz Palace” venue located in Lokbatan settlement, Garadagh district. The project is being implemented by the “Innovative Progress and Ecology” Public Union for Support to Socio-Economic Development with financial support from the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The event commenced with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, followed by the performance of the National Anthem.
In her opening speech, the Chairperson of the Union and Project Leader, Saida Musayeva, drew attention to the serious threats that domestic violence — particularly in the context of women and children — poses to the social security and healthy development of society. She stated that a total of five events are planned within the project. Events have already been held in Baku and Sumgait. Today’s event took place in Lokbatan settlement of the Garadagh district. The next meeting will be held in Khirdalan, and the final — fifth — event will take place in the Khazar district of Baku.
Deputy Chairperson of the Union, Jamala Nakhchivani, emphasized in her speech that combating domestic violence remains one of the top priorities at the state level in Azerbaijan. She presented a project-related slideshow to the participants, providing information on approaches and goals in this area.
One of the main speakers at the event, lawyer-psychologist and project expert Natig Babayev, delivered a detailed presentation on legal mechanisms to combat domestic violence, psychological support systems, as well as local and international best practices in the field. He also emphasized the importance of women’s active participation in public life and their socio-economic empowerment, responding to numerous questions from the audience.
At the end of the event, Project Leader Saida Musayeva once again highlighted that domestic violence is recognized as a serious global social problem. She stressed the importance of keeping the issue in the public spotlight, expanding educational efforts, and promoting successful practices within society. She noted that the protection and development of women and children, along with the promotion of innovative thinking, are among the priority directions in the activities of the “Innovative Progress and Ecology” Public Union for Support to Socio-Economic Development.
In her remarks, Saida Musayeva also emphasized the importance of the grant competition announced by the Agency in this field and expressed her gratitude to the members of the Supervisory Board, Executive Director Mrs. Aygun Aliyeva, and all the staff of the Agency for recognizing the value of the Union’s initiative and selecting the project as a winner.
As part of the event, an exhibition featuring handicrafts and drawings by the children of Public Union members was held, and a tea break was organized for the participants.
