Towards COP29: The Green NGO Movement

On November 1, 2024, the event and march titled “Towards COP29: NGOs’ Green Movement” was held at the Seaside Boulevard in Baku, where Saida Musayeva, the chairperson of the Public Union “Innovative Progress and Support for Ecological and Socio-Economic Development,” also participated. The large-scale event, organized by the Agency for State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations and the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum, with the support of the Azerbaijan Bicycle Federation, brought together nearly 150 NGO representatives and civil society activists.
The event began by commemorating the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and continued with significant messages promoting green thinking and raising awareness within society.
Before the start of the bicycle ride, five children of martyrs participating in “Towards COP29: NGOs’ Green Movement” were presented with bicycles by “Kapital Bank” and the “Red Hearts” Foundation. This initiative was regarded as a model of collaboration and joint action between government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector.
Members of the Azerbaijan Bicycle Federation, the “Support for Disabled Cyclists of Azerbaijan” Public Union, and the “Wheelchair Disabled” Public Union actively participated in the bicycle ride, with special arrangements made to ensure inclusive participation.
Participants of the event also visited the COP29 Information Center located in the Seaside National Park, where they received extensive information and presentations about COP29.
